The City of Mt. Vernon is accepting applications for a full-time position as City Recorder. Qualifications include high school education plus specialized training, in areas related to job duties, along with five years of experience. A combination of training and experience which demonstrates the knowledge skills and abilities to perform the duties below.

Applicants should have knowledge of public finance, City policies and procedures, particularly in management and administration, public meeting and records law, and the legislative process, including impact on local codes. Position is required to continuously analyze and evaluate operations and develop then implement corrective action to resolve problems. Applicants must have strong communications skills including oral and written proficiency in English, spelling, grammar, punctuation, word processing, and utilizing various computer software. Applicants must have strong math, accounting, personnel, computer, public relations, and cooperation skills. The Recorder is the City’s Budget Officer and responsible for annual budget preparation, in accordance with Oregon Budget Law, they also serve as the Elections Officer and Planning Official. These responsibilities require the ability to initiate and conduct technical research, prepare interpretations, and compose formal correspondence and reports. The position includes a generous benefit package; salary is dependent on qualifications. The Recorder serves under the supervision of the Mayor and 4 additional councilors.
